October Makings!

Here are some photos of what has been happening in the art room this month!

5th Grade: I am Art Reproductions. Students pick a famous piece of artwork to place a photo of themselves into. They can use oil pastels, watercolors, or colored pencils.

4th Grade Secondary Color Paintings. 4th grade students had a chance to practice their color mixing skills and reminding themselves how to mix and use paint in the art room. Always good practice to remind ourselves of the basics!

Masking tape was placed down to make a design and they mixed colors right onto the newspaper.

6th grade has been working on Ugly Mugs! My hands were full of clay and I didn't get any pictures of students creating. Stay tuned and I will post some pictures of the clay mugs!

We're Off! September Makings!

We are all settled into the art room and starting to get into the groove of the school year!
Students have been creating:
4th Grade: Art Journal Covers
5th Grade: Keith Haring Character Trait Posters
6th Grade: Mandala Designs

On the first day of art, 6th grade students had a conversation about, "what makes me an artist?"
They were able to find at least one way they are an artist and find a visual way to display it on our bulletin board in our art space. Some students felt like they had a love for drawing, painting, and clay but others were able to express that they can be an artist without feeling like they have to draw a perfect picture! Take a look at their ideas!

4th Graders have finished designing their art journal covers with lots of magazines, scrap paper, glue and Sharpie markers. They will be able to use these journals for the next three years in the art room at CSDA. It is a space they can always go into to work out an idea or practice draw something they want to when they are finished a project.

Here are some photos from Mrs. Furbush's 6th grade. Lots of energy are put into the details!

2018-2019 School Year!

Are you ready artists?!?

I know I haven't been with you all since April Vacation, since I have had my daughter, but let me tell you all, I am VERY excited to come back, create, and get messy this school year.

4TH Graders: I look forward to meeting you all, learning all your names, and seeing your smiling faces ready to make anything and everything!

5TH and 6TH Graders: Let get back to work creating! I want to see and hear about all your summer adventures and most importantly see how tall you all have grown in just the summer!

What kinds of projects will we be making this year?

Clay projects
Painting with acrylic paints and watercolors
Building with recyceled materials
6th Grade Egyptian Unit
Outdoor artwork, landscapes
Printmaking
Collage
Cartooning

...and most importantly, we will be taking risks and trying new things in art this year.

Your Job in the 2019 school year: Come in ready to try something new! Take a risk with your artwork! Make something you never thought you could!

Here are some pictures of artwork I made this summer ,  I have been drawing with fancy drawing pens on watercolor paper and adding watercolors:

We like to paint at the Gagne's!
And of course here are my daughters, I can't help but share a picture of them with you all!

Let's get to work and make creative memories together!

Welcome! CSDA ARTSHOW 2018!
This show marks the halfway point for students and the projects they have made in art this year.
As always it is a pleasure to watch students show off their accomplishments so far this school year. It is also always a treat to put out all the artwork and see how much we have accomplished at CSDA!
